This week the children enjoyed embracing the pirate life! They sent their own messages in a bottle, counted the gold coins in the sand, made more maps, cleared the beach of litter, experimented with different materials to see which were waterproof and which were not and lots more! In Maths we focused on number and understanding the concept of more and fewer than with numbers to 10. In Phonics we continued revising phase 3 long vowel sounds phase 2 digraphs. We also kicked off our latest mini project, 'Move It' by reading Kicking a Ball by Allan Ahlberg and discussing what the children want to find out in the next steps of their learning journey. Lastly, and probably most importantly we watched three out of the five butterflies hatch out of their chrysalis and set them free! It was a very exciting moment!
