Pirates! (PM Nursery)

This week in Nursery the children have been learning about pirates, the ocean and sea creatures!

We began the week by listening to ‘The Aquarium’ in ‘The Carnival of the Animals’ by Saint Saens. The children enjoyed listening to this relaxing music and danced along with the scarves.

In Maths we did some underwater counting on the Interactive whiteboard.

In Phonics we learned the new sound ‘nk’ as in the word sink and continued to practise our oral blending and phonemic awareness skills in our daily ‘Little Wandle’ activities.

The children enjoyed making pirate maps and hats and we played a ‘find the treasure’ game, where they had to listen carefully to instructions and were either’hot’ or ‘cold’ inorder to find the hidden treasure chest full of Captain Party’s coins and jewels!

The children have continued to enjoy singing our pirate and sea songs which we began to learn last week and they had fun learning a Boogie Beebies pirate dance too!

Other activities have included threading pirate jewelllery, pirate playdough, pirate dressing up and using tweezers to put pompoms (scales) on the fish and dolphins.
