We went on a walk around school to spot different aspects of our natural world. We found a birds nest, fungi, lichen, moss and sadly some litter. We discussed why we should look after our world and how we could do this.

We enjoyed our Harvest Festival which was led by the Reverend Jon Taylor from St Bartholomew’s church. He spoke about the importance of being thankful for what we have and how it is kind to share. He also described how his church would be celebrating Harvest this year. As a school we collected enough food to fill over 18 crates
On a very sunny day we decided to go outside to draw our self portrait. We drew the outline of our face and then added our features using natural materials.
In Science this week we have been learning all about plants. We went to our school pond and wildlife area in search of some. We chose our favourite plants to draw and we labelled them too. We also enjoyed looking for newts in our school pond.
Craft club was very busy in skills academy last week. The children in key stage 1 had a fantastic time making their own rainbows! They were very proud of their work.
We took our Tudor houses outside and re-enacted the great fire of London from 1666. All of us had to stand back at a safe distance and there was plenty of water to put the fire out. We also spoke about fire safety and discussed how easily fire can spread.
Year 1 had a fantastic day at St John’s museum in Warwick. We learnt what it would have been like to be in a Victorian school. The teacher was very strict! Washing was also hard work in the Victorian times. We played with toys from the modern era and from the past.
We have been learning all about the Great Fire of London in year 1. We learnt that it happened in 1666 and that the Tudor houses were made of wood and they were close together which is one of the reasons why the fire spread so quickly. We designed and labelled a Tudor house and have started to make one
We were excited to welcome the Reverend Jonathan Taylor from St Bartholomew’s church to our school! He took an assembly and told us all about the Easter story and why it is a special celebration for himself, his church and the whole Christian community
