Year 3 have been learning about mechanisms in D/T this week. We have made moving pictures with sliders, levers and linkage mechanisms. We have also made a moving flag model by making our own cam mechanism. It has been a lot of fun!

Year 3 have begun an Art project learning about different sketching techniques. We have used different media to create sketches of Ammonite fossils.
We all enjoyed taking part in Scooter Day! It was good to practise our gross motor skills and coordination in a fun way!
This week Year 3 enjoyed a trip to Kingsbury Water Park. We had the opportunity to experience a Stone Age Day. There were lots activities to help us learn about life in the stone age. We had a go at building our own shelters from logs and materials found in the forest, making fire with steel and flint, roasting marshmallows
We have been learning about the traditional craft methods that were used in the Stone Age and Bronze Age. We wove our own baskets using natural materials. It took a lot of patience and resilience to complete them!
We all had fun in Forest School! We learned how to safely light a fire, use tools such as hand drills and saws too. Can you tell by our smiles how much we enjoyed it?!

Year 3 have been learning about the Commonwealth Games. Each Sports Day team was given a Commonwealth country and asked to find out about their sporting history. We had lots of fun finding out about flags, populations and how many different sports the country has competed in. We found out that some countries have won many medals over the years!
Year 3 enjoyed a tea party (indoors due to the great British weather!) to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. We had a afternoon of activities about the Queen, cakes and drinks too. We watched part of the Queen’s coronation ceremony and looked at important events within the Queen’s lifetime. We had a lot of fun!
On a very cold, rainy morning Year 3 ventured outdoors to test the volcanoes we made. We made volcano cones out of paper and followed a set of instructions to create a volcano from everyday ingredients you might find in your cupboards at home. We did a scientific investigation to create a reaction that simulated a volcano erupting! It was
