Year 2 have worked their socks off over the last few weeks completing their quizzes. We celebrated by having a fun afternoon on the field followed by an ice lolly! The children have been amazing and we are really happy with how they have done.

Over the past few weeks we have been enjoying ourselves learning and putting actions to many different songs. Particular favourites have been: The Jungle Rumble and the Sea Shanty Medley!
There were some very hungry children as they waited patiently for their turn at choosing cakes. Thank you for all the donations of cakes and for sending money into school for them to buy some delicious treats!
In maths this week, the children have been learning how to collect and represent information in tables, charts and diagrams. We gathered information about favourite ice cream flavours and displayed it in a tally chart.
Last week, we visited Somerset as part of our topic, Coastline. We managed to fit in a trip to Noah’s Ark Zoo and the beach at Weston-super-Mare. A great day but tiring day was had by us all!
2C have been learning how to saw and join lengths of wood to make a right angled join. They did this brilliantly and then strengthened it by adding a cardboard corner. We will be making the real thing in the next few weeks!
Year 2 are reading The Pirates Next Door by Jonny Ruddle who has written a series of books about the family of pirates called The Jolly Rogers. This book is written in rhyme and is full of speech bubbles with colloquial speech. They had fun today reading, experimenting with their voices and reading in character!
Each week Ms Rowe has given us a different building challenge. We have used Kapla, pegs and lolly pop sticks, Lego, Meccano, playing cards and plastic, small chairs to build with.
Year 2 had great success at following a graphic score. The graphic score was in three sections and told the story of a boat at sea sailing through calm waters, a storm and then returning to calm. Each group had to play several instruments and follow their line of music to create a brilliant composition. Well done Year 2!
