During science, Year 5 have been exploring and identifying the reproductive parts of a flower. Using delicate and precise work they took each part out piece by piece.
We’ve enjoyed using the Kapla in our Skills Academy, exploring the structure of bridges and roofs.
As some children in Year 5 begin their Forest School sessions, they start to discover allotments (linked to their geography topic of Sow, Grow and Farm). We looked at our own allotment area and talked about the different animals you might find in these areas. Then, using their knowledge of food webs, they created a typical food web for an
Year 5’s Earth and Space topic has seen them discover and understand many of our Solar System’s phenomena; from our Moon’s lunation to how the planets orbit the Sun. Using models and demonstrations, the children were able to better understand the mind-boggling scale of our Solar System.
Today we started getting our axels and wheels ready and although we have had to make some design adjustments, we are starting to see some completed models. Whilst we wait for the wheels to be ready, we have added some wings to our cars to make them gliders for when we want to propel them from height. We can’t wait
