Like the groups last half term, Year 5 have been getting creative with the Forest School bits-and-bobs to make water features in and around the Forest School area. Our particular favourite was the one which we tried to shape like a mushroom. We may have enjoyed collecting everything up at the end even more than making the features!

Correct spade technique was required for us to move almost a tonne of soil from one end of the school grounds to the other! We were generously donated a large planter for our Forest School area and we have been spending time this week moving soil from some ordered bags to the planter, using a wheelbarrow and some elbow grease.
This afternoon, on a very wet Thursday, year 2 tested bubble solutions. We created a list of what we felt made a ‘good’ bubble and then used this to help assess which solution was the best using our own made up scale. Solution 1 was just tap water and washing up liquid. Solution 2, included bottled water, washing up liquid
We practised writing our numbers in Learning Hub 2. We said the rhymes to help us remember how to write them correctly. Look at how well we did!
Year 3 have been busy making their own chocolate treats! We designed our chocolates thinking of the flavours and toppings that we would like. We even thought of some interesting names for our own chocolates. We had great fun designing our own chocolate boxes to put them in. Mr Bolus and Mrs Taylor were left disappointed as there were none
To support Anti-Bullying Week we wore odd socks to school to remind us that it is okay to be different. We also designed some anti-bullying posters. Thank you to all parents who sent a donation into school, all the money raised will be sent to the Anti-Bullying Alliance to help support them in their work. https://www.anti-bullyingalliance.org.uk/anti-bullying-week/anti-bullying-week-2019-change-starts-us
As part of our Science work we learned that egg shells were made of the same calcium compound as the enamel on our teeth. We put some egg shells into different liquids to find out what would happen and thought about how the same things could happen to our teeth. Ask your child what we found out!
This week in Nursery, for our maths, we are learning all about shapes. We had fun playing the game ‘Dotty Dinosaurs’ where we had to role a ‘shape’ dice and then find the corresponding shape. The winner was the first person to find all the correct shapes for their dinosaur!
To launch our new topic, Frozen Kingdom, Year 6 had a visit from Simon Ward. He has been to the Arctic four times and Antarctica twice. The children had a brilliant day learning information about the poles, watching video clips from real life expeditions and working on their team building skills.
Learning hub club was full of Kapla building fun on Friday. I am not sure who had the most fun.. the children or Miss Appleton! One of our pupils disappeared in to a Kapla silo.
