Maths competition in Hub 2. Choose a three digit number and divide it by a two digit number, total the remainders and the person with the highest remainders wins. Why not challenge someone at home and see who wins.
We have been making the most of the weather and using the field for our daily mile break during the afternoon. Four laps is equal to a mile and some of our children have been pushing themselves to achieve this and more.
This weekend Mr Taylor, Mr Hancock, Mr Stevens and Mrs Haywood (our school governor) ran the Cardiff Half marathon. Running practise at school has definitely helped with their preparation. We are sure the children will be inspired by their teachers’ determination and resilience.
We’ve been practising lots of different drills during our netball skills academy club but one of the favourite has got to be shooting. We were pleased that the rain held off this week because last week we all got soaked! Bouncing the balls in the puddles was a lot of fun though.
The children all took part in a very active maths activity called ‘Shape Shopping’. The children were in different shape teams. Each team searched for their shapes. Then each team set up their shape shops. The hard part came when every team had a shopping list where they had to tick off each shape they ‘bought’.
Some children in Year 5 enjoyed using the tables in the Learning Hub, to write and edit their answers.
This week we designed and made boats out of Plasticine. We thought carefully about the shape of our boats and had a competition to see which floated.
This week Reception tried a tricky task to test out their teamwork. We tried to pass the hoop around the circle without letting go of hands, it was very tricky but the children were tremendous!
In Nursery this week we have enjoyed making ‘heart shaped’ cookies. We mixed all the ingredients together to make a dough. We then flattened the dough out using our hands and used a cookie cutter to make our hearts. Mrs Lindsay put them in the oven to bake. We can’t wait to taste them! Yum!
