This week, Year 5 found out that working out the answers to mental addition calculations, can be very taxing not only on the brain, but also on the legs!
5W recently ventured outside to help create ideas for a descriptive piece of writing about a secret garden. It was cold. With our eyes closed, it felt lonely. The wind ‘slapped’ our faces. We could actually ‘hear’ the silence.
Here we are blowing bubbles before we observed them from a scientific point of view. We observed how they looked, their shape and how they felt etc. We had lots of fun!
Here we are using wood and small hand saws to create small herb planters that we took home for our kitchens.
We cooked on the fire after learning how to maintain it and safely put it out and check that it’s completely gone.
In this session we used a dangerous tool called the Billhook! We used this to split wood!
Here we are discussing the Friends and Foes of an Allotment. We then talked about how we could create ‘yes no’ styled flow diagram to classify them as well.
On Thursday morning Reception enjoyed exploring the ice in our outdoor classroom. It was very cold and it quickly melted, but it was great fun while it lasted!
In our PE lessons we have enjoyed filming each other to help us perfect the new skills we are learning.
