What a fun day we had! We conducted lots of experiments! We mixed vinegar, washing up liquid and bicarbonate of soda and watched the reaction, we mixed effervescent tablets and water in plastic film canisters to make exploding rockets and we put Mentos into coke and watched it erupt.
The children enjoyed playing with Jelly Babies, pretending to play in the park or in the doll’s house. The Jelly Babies were ‘good friends’ as the children thought about sharing, taking turns, helping one another and being kind.
In assembly Mrs Gould read the story ‘Enemy Pie!’ Afterwards the children sorted pictures of pebbles with friendship and enemy words written on them. They had to decide whether the words went in the ‘Friendship pie’ or the ‘Enemy pie’. We considered words such as kind, caring, friendly, mean, sad and hurtful.
This week we have been using number lines to add and subtract. We also enjoyed going to the music room and exploring loud and quiet sounds while thinking about the dinosaurs from a story. We also made our own Velociraptor dinosaurs!
In Reception we have had lots of fun learning how to work as a team! The challenge was to try and pass a hoop around a circle without breaking hands. It was a bit tricky but we did it and it made us laugh.
