We celebrated harvest last week. Reverend Jon Taylor came into school to deliver a special harvest assembly. Thank you for all the food contributions … as you can see everyone was very generous!
We have enjoyed tasting chocolate this week as part of our Scrumdiddlyumptious topic. We blind tasted different types of chocolate including a very bitter chocolate which had 74% cocoa. This was not the children’s favourite! year 3 voted on which type of chocolate they liked the taste of and we made a tally chart and a bar chart from our
Continuing their study of Earth, Space, the Moon and the Solar System, Year 5 have been improving their understanding of why we have Day and Night. Here, using torches to imitate the Sun, the children investigated how its movement affects the amount and position of light that we experience on Earth.
The children really enjoyed showing and talking about their hand print homework, during circle time. We spoke about who has the biggest hand print and who has the smallest. Some of the children also shared what their grown ups do for them at home.
We had fun making hedgehogs out of play dough. We also used googly eyes and sticks for their spikes. We hope you like our work!
Year 6 have been working very hard with their writing this week. We have been writing a recount based on our class reader ‘Letters from the Lighthouse.’ Using The Write Stuff approach has helped to improve our vocabulary, sentence construction and use of punctuation. Thank you to all the families who attended our first Saturday running event. It was lovely to see so many happy faces enjoying some exercise together! Thankfully the sun was shining. We will be holding more events throughout the year.
