Reception looked closely at photos of different minibeasts! We then painted our own pictures! We thought carefully about the colour and the shape of their bodies, the number of legs and whether they had wings or not. We also thought about their habitats.

We really enjoyed our trip to Ash End House Farm. When we arrived we went to see some ‘creepy critters’. There was an iguana, which we were able to stroke, lots of snakes and 2 giant tortoises! Year 3 had a great trip to Creswell Crags Heritage Museum to learn all about the Stone Age. We had a lovely day learning all about how people in the Stone Age survived- how they hunted, what food they ate, the types of clothes they wore and lots of other interesting facts. Year 3 had great fun making our own 2-D and 3-D shapes this week. We investigated the properties of each shape and then worked in groups to have a go at making them. We were even able to eat them afterwards as the vertices (corners) were made from marshmellows!!
During the afternoon, some children went to the learning hub to practice their Maths skills with Miss Panesar.
Reception worked in pairs to make words using phoneme frames.
We were very excited to have a visit from Mr Taylor and Chester the dog. We learnt all about what he likes to eat, where he sleeps and how much exercise he needs. We enjoyed stroking him too!
Year 2 have designed and started to build a fortress for the Three Little Pigs so that they can hide away from the Big, Bad Wolf! They have used cardboard to construct it with a range of cutting and joining techniques. They can’t wait to get them finished!
