Year 2 had a jam-packed and exciting day visiting Warwick Castle. The trip linked perfectly with our currently topic Magnificent Monarchs. They learnt so much about the castle’s rich history and are going to use that to write some amazing information leaflets! This is just a snippet of what we saw…
This week the children have practised some gross motor skills, worked in teams and have shown off their story telling skills! In Phonics we have revised phase 3 long vowel sounds, tricky words and some digraphs such as -ai, -ar, er and -oa. They have looked at words ending with -ing and -ed too. This week Nursery started a new mini project called ‘Splash!’ We began the week by thinking about the importance of water and watched a video showing all the different uses for water. The children enjoyed helping Captain Party sort all his treasure into things that float and sink. In PE we made the ‘sea’ ripple and then made big waves!

A big well done to the children who have represented the boys football team this year. The children have grown in confidence and have represented the school really well. In the Cup competition the team won 4-0 then 5-0 but then came up against a very strong Christ The King team and were knocked out of the Harry Shaw Cup.
Our judges had a difficult time, but we finally added up to scores to find our very own.. Ernesford Grange Star Bakers!
In our brand new topic, ‘Islamic Art’, we have been looking at geometric patterns to help create our own clay tiles. We had great fun exploring with different shapes and colours before testing out our clay skills! This week, we have started to create our own geometric tiles with lots of different tools!
