We had a special assembly led by the Reverend Jon Taylor from St Bartholomew’s church. We learnt all about harvest festival and how it’s important to say thank you for our food. Jon taught us some ‘harvest festival’ songs including the ‘harvest samba! Some of us brought in food to share with our local foodbank too.

The children have been learning about the work of significant still life artists and still life techniques. They chose a piece of fruit and looked carefully at it from all angles, felt the texture and looked for any markings or patterns. They used clay to form the piece of fruit and added texture once they were happy with the shape.

We’ve been learning about how life has changed in Britain since the 1950s. Children thought about different aspects of life including jobs, entertainment and transport. Year 1 made a timeline of some significate events since the 1950s. We talked about the different decades and worked out when we were born on the timeline.
Children made dens out of tarps, rope and pegs. They worked together to make successful shelters to keep themselves dry in the rain. They had fun playing in them afterwards!
We are introducing a new role to our Year 6s this year. To boost the profile of science around the school, the year 6s have been applying to be a part of a unique team of ambassadors. Our forest school group got creative and put the finishing touches to their pencil holders this week. They used paints and pens to decorate them ready for their tables. Some final holes were drilled and now they are good to be put to use.
Nursery enjoyed doing a welly walk around school looking for signs of Autumn. We especially liked playing with the leaves and watching the Sycamore helicopters spin!
