This week, a group of Year 5 mathematicians took part in an on-line Maths competition. It was against other schools who are part of our ‘Aspire’ network of schools. Via ‘Teams’, our children were able to see and communicate with the other children and staff in their own classrooms. The challenges, a mixture of problem solving questions around number and shape, took the children through different rooms in an old house, as they tried to escape into the outside world. Our children were very keen, resilient and able to demonstrate super teamwork, as they solved the problems…and these problems, particularly the shape-based tasks (and particularly a really hard shape question involving recreating shape of a swan!) were very challenging indeed!
A big well done to the twelve children who took part and represented our school so well. As these photographs show, it was an exciting and very testing two hours for all concerned!
