As part of out Light and Shadows project Year 3 have been set a challenge- to see whether cheaper brands of suncream are just as effective as the more expensive brands at protecting us from the sun. We used a special paper called cyanotype paper which is light sensitive. We placed the paper into a labelled bag and smeared the bag with 3 different brands of suncream ranging from £2.00 to £20.00! We then placed the bag in direct sunlight for 5 minutes.
The paper should react to the light and change colour. The suncream should block out the light so there is no reaction on the cyanotype paper.
