Science Week – Penguins

British Science Week wanted us to think about growth this year and how different things around the world grow and adapt.

Year 2 have look specifically at Gentoo Penguins that live in Antarctica. Their habitat is becoming warmer and therefore the weather is changing. Stronger winds and more rain make it hard for them to build their nests. They have had to grow and adapt to these changes in their environment.

We went outside and, using our clippers as beaks, we tried building a penguin nest that would withstand rain and wind. We had lots of fun and got in character so much we had some inter-colony ‘pebble pinching’!
