Sunshine and Sunflowers! (AM Nursery)

The children have made a great start to their new project ‘Sunshine and Sunflowers’.

Please see our separate blog where we were looking for signs of Spring in our school grounds.

We had ‘Circle Time’ at the beginning of the week and shared what we had done over the Easter holidays.

In PE we had lots of fun playing parachute games.

We opened a flower shop, which was very popular and learned the rhyme ‘Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary’. We learned some Makaton signs from Mr Tumble too!

We thought about keeping safe in the sun and learned a song from Dr Ranj!

In maths the children went on a number hunt in our outdoor classroom.

In phonics we have been continuing with our daily Little Wandle activities, practising our oral blending skills and being introduced to some new phonic sounds. We played Silly Soup, where all the ingredients had to start with different initial sounds.

The children thought about rhyming words in the story, ‘Shark in the Park’ by Nick Sharratt and we played a game to see if we could recognise and read shop signs! The children were very good at this!
