- Reception have enjoyed a wonderful 4 days of learning. The week started with music with Mr Withers which was focused on Coronation themed songs. One included The Out of the Ark song- To the sound of Trumpets. To The Sound Of Trumpets | Free Coronation Song | Out of the Ark Music Alongside this, the children enjoyed learning all about King Charles, the Coronation and history and making their own wild crown inspired by The Eden Project- which they wore to the Reception Coronation party/cake sale.
- Alongside the Coronation, our Safari topic has continued. The children enjoyed listening to; talking about and comparing the story of Little Red and the very hungry lion; creating their own animal alphabet; using trundle wheels to investigate whether a blue whale would fit in our classroom (it wouldn’t but the world’s largest caiman crocodile would!) and explored themes of ‘bravery’ and ‘taking risks’ through sharing the story ‘The Koala who Could’. Other key texts have included: The King’s pants, The King’s hats and Little People, Big Dreams- King Charles.
- The phonics focus has been consolidating reading phase 3 longer vowel sounds and in maths it has been subitising 6.
- In provision, the children have enjoyed making their wild crowns; searching, sorting and counting for crown jewels in the sand; using the trundle wheels to measure; exploring animal skeleton’s and creating their own; moulding and cutting their own kings out of playdough and lots more!
