- This week the children have been continuing to learn about animals around the world. They explored Serengeti animals and compared them to animals that live near us. They have continued to enjoy learning through the stories ‘Look after us’ by Rod Campbell which provided conversation about how and why we should look after animals and ‘Handa’s Hen’ by Eileen Browne in which the children spotted the numerical pattern and created their own journey maps which included animals found in Kenya.
- The children loved learning about how animals camouflage themselves and the reasons for this. They learnt lots of facts about animals who live in rainforests and read some sentences about them brilliantly. Finally, the children enjoyed exploring landscapes through art and design and created their own.
- In RE, the children learnt about the ‘Crying Camel’ and what it teaches Muslims and in maths, they have been exploring the composition of 10, through the 10 fat sausages song- whilst using both tens-frames and dice-frames.
- In phonics, children have been learning to read CCCVC words.
- In provision, the children have been investigating mini-beasts, using construction kits, creating their own chameleons through printing with bubble-wrap and initiated their own fire-person training and we even found time to celebrate our local football teams success!
