Reception have had an enjoyable final week to the Spring Term. This week the focus has been 'Spring' and the week started with a 'Signs of Spring' hunt around our outside area, alongside exploring 'Spring' themed poems; by reading each line carefully and sorting them into 'things you can see in spring' and 'things you can hear in spring'. In addition, the children have also studied the weather carefully and kept a weather diary. The children enjoyed hearing the story of 'Bog Baby' by Jeanne Willis and were surprised to find a bog baby had been found on school site. They talked about how to care for a bog baby, wrote to the author to let her know and discussed how, it was important to release them back into the wild. On Tuesday the children enjoyed attending the Easter assembly led by Jon Taylor from St Barts' Church and on Wednesday they explored using powder paint, as part of their learning about Holi. The term could not be complete without an egg hunt on Friday (there have been lots of 'egg' and 'Spring' related activities within the provision too!) The focus in maths this week has been counting to 20 (paying particular attention the the teen numbers) and looking at data and in phonics it has been longer words (including compound). Below are lots of pictures of both lesson time and free-flow.
